What’s been happening:

Children and adjusting the evermore dynamic and demanding practice of medicine in the 21rst century has required discipline and maturity that I really did not have back in school. No doubt many of my colleagues had more than their share back then. I have been fortunate to have been in their company as well as the many of my cronies who made sure we enjoyed that unique time in my life. My wife and I are still in the thick of the child herding days and enjoying every minute of it. In the past I have boasted that my wife and I have finished marathons together. At the urgings of my spine, I have left the marathons to Mary Anne and I have been practicing aikido and tai chi for a number of years now. Unfortunately, these pursuits are just starting to teach me the patience and mindfulness that will be required to be effective in this increasingly challenging health care environment in the future.
